WerbilFUN 2.1.1
By Jim Egelhof & David Harris
WerbilFUN is a entertaining game oriented around amusment and not acheivement. However,
due to suggestions on the part of our in-house WerbilFUN players, and new software we both
wrote, we wrote 2.1.1.
WerbilFUN 2.1.1 is a major improvement over 1.1. The following features have been added:
- More support for color (no longer contained simply in the "20000" easter egg)
- More levels. The new version has 15.
- Uses a progress bar to tell you how far you are to becoming an IBM developer.
- The game play has changed.
- A Top-Ten list has been incorporated into the program.
- The program no longer uses the "sickly" radio-button scheme to tell you your status.
- The program now has new opinions in the about.
- Numerous bug-fixes.
- Sounds are played as a standard part of game-play.
- And more.
Chapter I: Game Play
Game play has changed significantly from previous versions.
The program selects a number from one to 100, and you try to guess it using as few guesses as
possible. The more guesses you use, the worse rating you get. However, you must get the number
within four guesses on the first number or five on the second or the program will select another
number (and will tell you it has done so.) However, your rating is not changed, so it has become
very easy to become an IBM developer should you miss three numbers and use all of your guesses.
You still enter your number into the edit field in the game window and click OK or hit return.
However, you will notice the rest of the window has changed dramatically. Instead of the old radio
button technique, the "Great Werbil in the Sky" tells you what your rating is. You will also notice a
progress-bar on the right of the window, which is basically a flipped-over version of the progress-
bars you see in Finder while copying a file. The black part of the progress bar shows you how close
you are to becoming an IBM developer.
After you (hopefully) win the game, the Top Ten will appear on the screen. If you beat anyone on
the list (a tie does NOT beat someone), you will be asked to enter your name in the field next to your
rank, and clicking the close box or pressing return finishes. Should you not beat anyone, simply
clicking the mouse closes the window.
Chapter II: Menus
The menus are basically the same as they were in version 1.1.
menu:
About WerbilFUN 2.1.1… tells you about the program. Click on any of
the definitions to hear James Egelhof (an author of the program) pronounce the word correctly for
you.
Desk accessories follow, working the same as in any other Macintosh
program.
File menu:
Quit terminates the program.
Edit menu:
Undo undoes your last action. Not used in WerbilFUN.
.
Cut removes selected text in the guess field and places it on the Clipboard.
Copy places selected text in the guess field on the Clipboard, but the guess
field remains unchanged.
Paste places the Clipboard contents into the guess field at the location of
the insertion point, or replaing selected text.
Chapter III: Shareware Info, Copyright, and
Thank-Yous
This program is shareware, which means you can freely distribuite it, without charge, with this
documentation, to anyone. You may not charge a fee for distribuition unles you are a recognized
national online service such as CompuServe, America Online, GEnie, AppleLink, and the like, and
charge standard connect time only. Companies that package and sell sharewae such as EduCorp
MUST get written licensing from the authors before selling. You are also encouraged to pay a
shareware fee to the authors, which gets you all future upgrades mailed to you.
Please send $10 to:

The authors will share all proceeds.
James Egelhof, the inventor of the concept of WerbilFUN, would like to thank Richard "Little
Ham[ster]" Egelhof for the idea of a werbil and it's definition, Mom, for the idea of varying the 1.1
gameplay, and David, for his invaluable programming work.
David Harris would like to thank his parents for the free room and board, Richard "Little
Ham[ster]" Egelhof for something to vent his frustrations on, and James, for the hilarious jokes and
the many bug fixing ideas.
This program was written in ZBasic 5.01, copyright 1984-1988, Zedcor, Inc. The authors are
extremely frustrated with the many bugs in the compiler and the utility ZMover included with the
program, and hereby request that the next version repair these deficincies. The compiler crashes
often, causing serious loss of work, bombs the computer instead of notifying us to errors in the
code, and many other things. This is why Jim Egelhof is trying to learn either C or Pascal. Should
you experience a problem with WerbilFUN, it is probably the compiler.
We thank you for taking the time to read this documentation, and most notably, to obtain out
program. We humbly suggest you send us our shareware fee, but we more strongly recommend-
have fun!
